Intel to delay high-end Montecito processors

The Inq heard that some of Intel's Montecito SKUs will be delayed. The high-end parts will be hit hardest, especially the 2.0GHz/24MB cache versions which will only appear by March. The launch has also been scaled back from 2.0GHz to 1.8GHz, and now those are looking iffy, they report.

The problem is not bad, but it will prevent the higher end parts from seeing the light of day in the near future. It is a known issue, and a decision was made to get the chip out at a decent speed vs waiting and hitting the unannounced target. Word has it that the 1.5GHz lower cache versions don't really lose all that much performance.
