Will Intel's Sossaman be worth it?

Intel's Sossaman, which is basically a DP Xeon version of the mobile Yonah processor, will likely be launched a few weeks after the launch of Yonah in February. The dual-core Sossaman processor is expected to be a fairly strong performer in Int, but weaker in FP and it won't support 64-bit.

The Inq doubts whether Sossaman makes any sense, as the DP Xeon Woodcrest will replace this processor only six months later.

It's doubtable whether Sossaman is really worth the infrastructure cost and tooling to make servers and blades with only a half year expected lifespan. More info at The Inquirer
