Intel makes Gemini Lake more powerful with wider instruction decode unit

TechPowerUp reports Intel's low-end Gemini Lake will get a wider 4-way decode unit. The current Goldmont chip has a 3-wide decode and Braswell had just two-way.

Gemini Lake will be used for the upcoming "Goldmont Plus" Celeron and Pentium processors. These chips will be used for low-end desktops, convertible laptops and tablets.

The origin of this news is an Intel kernel patch.
