The differences in fan sizes only affected the overall performance by a few degrees which was expected - but the small tradeoff in performance made quite a difference in noise. The stock heatsink and fan pales in comparison to the SLK-948U. I can't say I'm surprised. I had expected great performance out of the SLK-948U from the moment I opened the box and I can safely say it met or exceeded all my expectations.
