This past summer Nvidia released their GeForce 7800 GTX GPU with much acclaim, proving to have both excellent performance and image quality as well as a flawless launch. Cards were available the day of, foregoing the paper launches that have become all too common in the hardware world. While fast it also carried a hefty price premium and during QuakeCon Nvidia also hard launched their 7800 GT video card, a cheaper video card yet based off the same technology of the GTX and very fast in it's own right. Time has passed and since ATI have eventually followed up with their R520 to counter them and while it took a while to show up in stock, the X1000 series of Radeon cards do not disappoint with the X1800 XT topping the GeForce 7800 GTX at times in benchmarks and featuring 512MB of memory, which now matters as we proved first with our Call of Duty 2 benchmarks in September. With ATI at last back in the game, Nvidia has another card up their sleeve, a 512MB version of the 7800 GTX with much improved memory and core clock speeds.
