The Samsung X06 is one of a raft of recent offerings from Samsung. It comes under their "Thin and Light" range, though I'd suggest in practice it fits somewhere between "Thin and Light" and "Ultra-Portable". I suspect Samsung were designing a machine for modestly stingy people wanting performance and a CD-RW/DVD in a remarkably small 14.1" case. There have been a few concessions to achieve this, but they are minor compared to the resulting portability and performance gains.
