The Sonic Impact Gen3s are the most inexpensive portable speakers that we tested, but they feel a little cheap and flimsy compared to the competition. The majority of the front is monopolized by a silver vibrating surface, which Sonic Impact calls “free floating panels.” When clasped together, the Gen3s measure less than three inches at their widest, which when nestled in the included carrying case, is the perfect size for stowing away in a laptop bag.
