Creative’s TravelSound 500 wins the award for the most clever, notebook-friendly design, with a single white 8.6-ounce plastic bar housing both the right and left speaker that attaches to the top of your laptop. An adjustable clasp unfolds from the unit’s rear. The device will work with any device with a headphone output, but it’s clear that the TravelSound 500 speakers were designed with laptops in mind. They are the only speakers of the five that we tested that included USB power, batteries (offering thirty hours of power with an exterior battery pack), and an optional universal power adapter.
