3DVelocity has been test-driving Creative's high-precision HD7500 optical mouse. It's not laser but it still shines.

"Laser mice have made their appearance on the computer scene and are here to stay. The laser in the mouse can scan the surface, over which it's moving, much more accurately then the traditional LED optical mice. Except for this mouse maybe, with the use of the HD-Optix engine it's able to scan the surface rapidly too. It has a high image processing rate, coupled with a good acceleration detection. That combination should enable it to compete with current laser mice."
