Back when Core2 Duo was released the only supported chipsets were the Intel 965 and higher end 975. The sheer thought of any other Intel chipset supporting this processor was unheard of. But you can leave it up to Asrock to think of the unthinkable and actually accomplish it. You can pretty much say that they are known for doing just this. They took the aged 945 chipset and made it completely compatible with Conroe and Allendale. The ConRoeXFire-eSATA2 is based on the 945 chipset brewed with a little twist. They added Crossfire, Core2 Duo and DDR2-667 support. This was something unheard of with the original release of the Intel 945 chipset. But will all of these new found features warrant anyone to buy this board over say a 965 or 975 chipset mainboard? Let’s see.
