The Velocity Micro NoteMagix L80 Ultra looks plain on the outside. But underneath the surface lies a blazing 2.16-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a powerful Nvidia graphics card, making this seven-pounder’s $2,295 price tag easier to stomach. The L80’s 14.1 x 10.3 x 1.5-inch body sports a basic black-and-silver color scheme and an unattractive and out-of-place copper finish that surrounds the keyboard, giving the L80 an outdated aesthetic. Typing was comfortable on the spacious keyboard, though, and the keys had a solid feel.
