Surround sound is undoubtedly a de-facto standard in today's multimedia environment. Why then do most laptops not come with DTS - and surround sound in general - options? As with all things in life, when there is a perceived need a company will fill the void. The Theater Sound Xperience by IOGEAR is such an example. Thanks to its USB interface anyone can simply plug this device in and enjoy much more immersive sound, without needing to upgrade to a pair of 5.1 headphones or speaker setups. All that is needed is stereo speakers or headphones, as the Theater Sound Xperience takes care of the rest. At least this is the idea behind this small dongle.
