The fan controlling feature may be the biggest improvement over previous models as it allows users to eliminate an extra 5.25" device if they already have a fan control unit installed. Once the fans are hooked up they can be controlled under the control center preferences. The speed of the fans can be adjusted using the slide bar or by typing a numerical value from 0 to 100 in the box to the right. There is also a lock feature that can be set to make sure the fans don't drop below 50% of power, this is useful if you're using the unit to control a heatsink fan. There are also advanced options available if you expand the fan section. Here you can set up two preset actions based on temperatures (taken from motherboard temperature sensors), CPU use, or by manually clicking on either of the two presets.
