Parted Magic 4.9

Posted on Monday, March 22 2010 @ 15:11:41 CET by

The Parted Magic OS employs core programs of GParted and Parted to handle partitioning tasks with ease, while featuring other useful programs (e.g. Partimage, TestDisk, Truecrypt, G4L, SuperGrubDisk, ddrescue, etc...) and an excellent set of documentation to benefit the user. An extensive collection of file system tools are also included, as Parted Magic supports the following: ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs+, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, reiserfs, reiser4, and xfs.

Updated: rsync-3.0.7, fsarchiver-0.6.8, glibc-2.11.1, isomaster-1.3.7, linux-, udev-151, openbox-3.4.11, simpleburn-1.4.0, fontconfig-2.8.0, dosfstools-3.0.7, gdisk-0.6.4, gtk+-2.18.7, lsscsi-0.23, lxmusic-0.4.2, boot_info_script048.sh, dhcp-4.1.1, gparted-0.5.2, pciutils-3.1.6, testdisk-6.12-WIP, grsync-1.0.0, parted-2.2, pigz-2.1.6, smartmontools-5.39.1, util-linux-ng-2.17.1, e2fsprogs-1.41.11, glib-2.22.4, iozone3_338, lxpanel-0.5.5, menu-cache-0.3.2, ntfs-3g-2010.3.6, partclone-0.2.0, syslinux-3.85, udpcast-20100130, dbus-1.2.16, hal-0.5.14, hal-info-20091130

Removed: Google-Chrome

Added: Chromium, mhdd (extras boot menu), elinks

Fixed: frugal: zetc.xz zroot.xz not read when "livemedia" is option, more wireless script fixes, browser is backgrounded in network scripts now, test mounting to find Parted Magic is done as read-only now

Major Update: All old IDE drivers were removed from the kernel. What does this mean? There are not going to be any more hd* devices. All hard disk devices will be sd* and CDROM/DVD drives will be sr*. This doesn't mean IDE is no longer supported, it's means we are using libATA to handle IDE devices now instead of the legacy IDE kernel drivers. All old fonts were removed, Droid fonts are used now. Work has started on a GTK interface for fsarchiver written by us.
