AVI ReComp 1.0.0

Posted on Thursday, September 08 2005 @ 0:27 CEST by LSDsmurf

The program allows you to recompress your AVI files. The application supports not only the files containing audio streams but AVIs without any audio as well. For the time being the program uses only XviD codec to recompression process (versions: 1.0.3 or newer). The installation pack contains all required components (the newest versions of: VirtualDubMod, AviSynth and XviD). AVI ReComp can be very useful for users who want to clear their AVIs out of GMC or Qpel functions to prepare the clips for standalone DVD players. The program contains a feature of embedding subtitles into video. So if you want burnt in subtitles, you can use this software. Additionally the newest versions allow you to add black borders to your movie and place your subtitles on them. Versions 0.1.3 and higher support settings for ssa and ass subtitles (style, colour, position). Versions 1.0.0 and higher allow batch encoding, getting detailed information about AVI files and adding own logo to the movie. The applications supports AVIs with the following audio formats: mp3, wav, ac3, ogg. Supported subtitle formats: TMPlayer (.txt), MicroDVD (.txt / .sub), SubViewer2 (.sub), SubRip (.srt), Advanced SubStation Alpha (.ass), SubStation Alpha (.ssa). AVI ReComp includes multilingual interface (for the time being: British and Polish). In the future the author intends to create many new and very useful features.

[new]
- a new feature of batch encoding is added (now you can add your jobs to the queue)
- a new panel with detailed information about loaded AVI file
- a new feature of adding logo bitmap to the movie
- a new 'Preview' button in SSA/ASS settings window
- a new 'About...' item in tray popup menu

[changed]
- GUI is significantly rebuilt
- big changes in the source code
- improved the translation algorithms. From now ARC displays the list of languages in the default OS language used by the user
- updated 'How to make the translation' guide
- from now the initial directories for subtitles and logo (.bmp) are saved for the next session
- changed English translation (thx David J Hughes for help)
- changed the algorithms for adjusting subtitles properties. From now the original subtitle file is not changed. So you can use the same file with different settings for different movies
- changed the names of the directories for temporary files
- longer time for displaying hints
- VirtualDubMod updated to version 1.5.10.2
- improved searching for default source and target directories

[fixed]
- some XviD settings remained from the last compression
- little gui bug (deactivating subtitles didn't disable 'subtitles-settings' button)
- another GUI bug (improper size of VDubMod status window when this tool was not found)
- after setting a path to VDubMod a version of this tool was not displayed at all
- after accepting an invitation to download a new version the users of version 0.1.5 were directed to not existing website in our DHT service
- a possibility of choosing a different file than VirtualDubMod.exe from the history list
- VDubMod status 'Not found' was not translated properly
- some words in subtitles-settings window were not translated as they should
- two or more welcome and warnings windows were displayed when starting recompression. It occurred when OS didn't contain some registry entries or VDubMod was never used before.
- a bug when VirtualDubMod couldn't read some temporary files. This bug is fixed in new version of VDubMod (a possible issue with Symantec Corporate AntiVirus 10).
