Some (all?) DV camcorders note the recording date and time on tape. We call this information the DATECODE. You can enable DATECODE display when you play a DV video on a DV camcorder, but after transfer to a computer the DATECODE is hidden in the DV files. As far as i know there are a handful programs which use DATECODE information...
