Known Issues:
  • If you are installing Prey and the patch at the same time, make sure to reboot after installing Prey, but before installing the patch. Installing the patch without rebooting first can cause problems with the Prey uninstaller. The uninstall icon in the Start menu and the Prey entry in Add/Remove programs will not function properly if this happens. Note that this can happen if you install any program that uses InstallShield after installing Prey without rebooting, not just the patch. If you are having this problem, you can still uninstall by inserting the original retail disc and selecting Install/Uninstall from the Prey Launcher.
  • Your windows firewall, or other firewall software may have a popup window that is requesting permission to allow prey to talk to the internet. What you can do is hold down your Alt key and Press Tab, or move your mouse, and try to click on the mid/upper right corner of the screen (even though you cannot see the cursor) until you can see the game cursor move.

Once you have focus of prey again, hit ALT and ENTER at the same time, and it will go into windowed mode. Then acknowledge your firewall dialog box (if you do not see one, look on the task bar, or move the window out of the way.) and allow it to talk to the internet.

Then click back on prey, and hit ALT and ENTER again and you will be back to full screen and ready to play, and you should not have this problem again.
