This is a major upgrade addressing how the search service is organized.

Given ordinary hardware such as used right now the scheme can easily provide unlimited retention without affecting search service performance.

First though we'll run it with the same retention as previously, then the retention will be bumped several times (the older data is available here) when additional hardware will be installed (it won't require client version update).
