Posted on Tuesday, August 14 2007 @ 11:19 CEST by Thomas De MaesschalckRelease 1.9 introduces several updates, new functions and interface enhancements over 1.8 series, based on feedback collected on previous 1.8 release series, featuring a substantially renewed user interface driven to a cleaner design and better usability. The layout composer and the archive browser were improved, introducing multiple selection, AZ/ZA sorting, better designed popup menus, options organized in a tabs, archive browsing navigation bar, recent archive's history and many other under the hood usability improvements; see change log for a detailed description.
- New tabular look, updated graphic
- New theming scheme (3 colors only, custom icon's folder, all graphics but imglist and buttons is now customizable)
- Enabled multiple selection in archive layout composer and archive browser (selection as in previous versions available as option)
- AZ/ZA sorting clicking on column's header for layout composer and archive browser
- Added (optional) recent archives history, only for archives create/opened from main window
- Added search on the web functions (archive and open interfaces)
- Added benchmark tool
- Options tabs reorganized (general, create and open tabs)
- Updated 7z frontend to 4.51
- Updated UPX frontend to 3.01
- Updated we crypto and checksum/hash libraries in use
- Updated gwrap executable (new look, supports benchmark mode)
- Updated Pea executable (allows interactive input for split if size is not specified)
- Added exclusion filters wich can be saved in archive's layout (works with 7z binary, otherwise are disabled)
- Added customizable solid block size (.7z format)
- Added DVD DL preset volume size; DVD and DVD DL sizes corrected according to Wikipedia information
- Added quick selection between favourite formats as customizable popup menu
- Last used compression method is saved in details to defaults (for 7z binary, .7z and .zip formats)
- 'Compress files open for writing' saved to conf (all formats supported through 7z binary)
- 'Encrypt filenames' function (.7z format) saved to conf
- New archive browser toolbar, reorganized as complete navigation bar
- Added option to not give detailed information if archive is over a given MB size (much more faster for archives containing many objects)
- Added options to ignore paths for selected and dispayed objects
- Added Test (all) button
- Added popup menu to save command line applying the action to all, displayed or selected objects
- Doubleclick and 'Extract and open' functions are more customizable
- Archive browser's popup menu:
- Added Preview function to extract and open a file or a folder in a temporary working directory in output path (deleted closing the application or opening another archive)
- Added test and list submenus
- Extract and Extract to entries gives information about output path and about status of 'extract to a new folder' option
