VIA announces restructuring

VIA announced a corporate restructuring this week, splitting its existing units into three core business groups: CPU Platform, System Platform and Multimedia Consumer Electronics (MCE).
br /> The company aims to improve its efficiency and competitiveness.

AMD's merger with ATi and Intel's cooperation with Nvidia plus trailing Nvidia and ATi in graphics chipset technology have rendered VIA Technologies less competitive in the chipset market, thus motivating the corporate restructuring, industry sources pointed out.
