Ekster Laptop Sleeve reviewEkster is a company best known for its wallets. The two founders teamed up while in university to develop a wallet built for the 21st century. Besides innovative wallets, Ekster also has some other products in its portfolio, including a line of bags. In the realm of tech accessories, finding the perfect laptop sleeve can be a daunting task. Ekster aims to simplify this quest with their Ekster Sleeve laptop sleeve. It's a premium leather model designed for 13" laptops like the Apple MacBook.
Priding itself on sustainability, Ekster likes to minimize its footprint. The Ekster Laptop Sleeve ships in minimal packaging and easily fit into my mailbox.
The sleeve is made from "premium American hides" and measures 0.6" x 14" x 10" (15mm x 350mm x 255mm). You can get it in three color options: Nappa Black, Classic Brown, and Juniper Green. The Ekster Sleeve laptop sleeve immediately impresses with its minimalist and sleek design -- it has a premium feel. The only bummer is that the design isn't very dust-resistant, it requires often cleaning to keep it in pristine condition.
Its primary purpose is to safeguard your laptop from bumps and scratches, The Ekster Sleeve is excellent for this purpose, the slim design makes it easy to carry around and the well-padded microfiber interior lining provides excellent shock absorption, ensuring that your laptop remains safe during transit. There's corner protection and the snug fit of the sleeve further enhances protection by preventing unwanted movement and potential damage. Additionally, the soft inner lining prevents scratches and smudges, preserving the laptop's pristine condition.
Ekster's Laptop Sleeve is designed for 13" laptops, the Apple MacBook Air M1 is a perfect fit.

Ekster understands the need for convenience and ease of use, and the Sleeve reflects this understanding. The slim and lightweight design allows for effortless transportation, enabling users to slip their laptops into backpacks or carry them separately with ease. The sleeve features a smooth magnetic closure, allowing for quick and hassle-free access to your laptop whenever needed. The front has two hidden pockets that can be used for cash, cards, and paper.
The rear has one big pocket and the elastic pockets are divided into six compartments. The external elastic organizer provides a storage solution for stuff like pens, cords, USB adapters, your smartphone, and a charger. It's nice that it's there, but personally, I'm not a big fan of the external pockets. It doesn't feel very safe when you're solely carrying the Ekster Laptop Sleeve, I always fear something will fall out. I also feel it's mainly designed with the Apple MacBook in mind, larger laptop adapters will not fit. Then again, if you desire a lot of storage, I'm not sure if a compact sleeve is what you really need.
A great feature are the cut-out indents for charging. Laptops like the Apple MacBook Air M1 can be charged without taking them out of the sleeve.
ConclusionThe Ekster Sleeve laptop sleeve offers a stylish and functional design to protect your laptop. Its minimalist design, coupled with high-quality materials and attention to detail, make it an appealing accessory for tech enthusiasts. The sleeve's robust padding provides ample protection against everyday hazards, while its slim profile ensures effortless portability. For those seeking a well-crafted laptop sleeve that strikes the right balance between fashion and function, the Ekster Sleeve is worth considering. At the time I'm writing this, the Laptop Sleeve is sold via the Ekster website for $67 (down from $96).
