AMD RS780 chipset launch in January 2008

VR Zone reports the AMD RS780 chipset will be launched in January 2008.

There will be three variants:
  • RS780 : DX10, UVD, Avivo HD, DVI, Display port, HDMI
  • RS780C : DX10, Avivo, DVI, Display, HDMI
  • RS740 : DX9, Avivo, PCIe 1.0, DVI, HDMI
  • According to a slide from AMD the RS780 will feature a dedicated hardware decoder for Blu-ray and HD DVD high-def video. The RS780 should offer support for "full-spec, worst-case" HD content.
