Ex-Dell topman joins AMD

AMD today announced the appointment of Morton L. Topfer, formerly executive vice president of Motorola and vice chairman of Dell Computers, to its board of directors. Topfer, 68, was elected at AMD’s most recent board of director’s meeting.

“With the addition of Mort Topfer, we continue to add world-class talent to AMD’s board of directors,” said AMD Chairman, President and CEO, Hector Ruiz. “Mort’s experience at Motorola, Dell, and more recently with Castletop Capital will help him bring an incomparable mix of financial, operational and manufacturing expertise to AMD. In addition, Mort is deeply committed to leveraging technology to help improve the quality of people’s lives worldwide, a passion shared by all of us at AMD.”
