X-bit Labs heard AMD is working with some of its partners to create a rival for Intel's NUC. The plan is to create a Kabini-based design with a footprint of just 4" x 4".
While AMD-based systems will provide lower power consumption than their Intel-based counterparts, they will also likely to be noticeable slower in general purpose applications. Still, given the Kabini system-on-chip’s vast GPGPU capabilities, such PCs are going to be inexpensive, yet provide adequate level of performance for consumer apps.

No exact details were given regarding the NUC-like AMD-based systems, but AMD should disclose more in the upcoming week at Computex Taipei trade-show.
