FUD Zilla reports AMD recently lost one of its key salesmen to Lenovo. Matthew Zielinski, who was Corporate VP and President of Global sales MNC at AMD, is now doing the same job for Chinese PC maker Lenovo. FUD Zilla says this may be the most significant sales division loss for AMD since John Byrne got poached by Dell. The site speculates it's hard for a small (and barely profitable) company like AMD to keep talent happy. Zielinski left AMD over a month ago.
Sales guys inside big companies are sometimes like rock stars and it seems that AMD cannot keep them happy. Matthew Zielinski is the latest big departure and his new title is the President of North America and Senior Vice president of PCs and Smart Devices. That sounds like a very senior position. We also heard that at least one more senior chap decamped to Lenovo sales as well.

AMD increased its market share with Ryzen, but this is not enough to feed the whole company. Graphics sales went to currency miners as they were big and easy customers. We see a trend of high profile sales guys from AMD going to partners, as there is more to sell, more diversity, and definitely more chance to grow. The more you grow, the better your bonus.
