It's another slow news day so here's a look at the new "Daisy" robot from Apple. The new robot disassembles old iPhones at a rate of 200 phones per hour. It takes the phones apart and recovers valuable materials. Daisy is an improvement of Liam, the new robot can handle more iPhone variants than its 2-year old predecessor, which was only compatible with the iPhone 6.

Environmental groups praise Apple for its efforts, but note Apple should focus on building more repairable and upgradeable phones:
Greenpeace, the environmental advocacy group, praised Apple for its efforts reducing its carbon footprint and recycling its old products. But the group criticized Apple for designing products that need to be replaced so often.

Instead of building “another recycling robot,” Apple should focus on “repairable and upgradeable product design,” Greenpeace said in a press release on Thursday. “This would keep its devices in use far longer, delaying the day when they’d need to be disassembled by Daisy.”
