Skype today announced the launch of affiliates programs, allowing websites to earn ten percent for each new referred member. The project started three weeks ago and according to Niklas Zennstrom, Skype's co-founder, 1,800 already signed up.

The affiliate programs works through CJ, if someone signs up within 30 days after clicking on the link on your website Skype will pay you ten percent.

Currently Skype is one of the most popular programs on the web. The programs is free but services like SkypeIN and SkypeOUT aren't. SkypeIN allows you to get calls from ordinary telephone lines while SkypeOUT allows you to phone regular phones.

Zennstrom refused to tell when a Skype application for cell phones would become available. Motorola announced such a phone some time ago but has postponed the launch.
