In the first quarter of next year Intel will launch the Dempsey server processor, with a FSB of 1066MHz. This new Xeon processor will come at 3.20GHz, 3.40GHz, 3.60GHz and 3.80GHz.

Dempsey is a 65nm dual-core Xeon chip with two times 2MB L2 cache. Intel also plans to launch a MV Dempsey with a max power consumption of 105W.

There is also some news on price cuts on Intel's server processors in Q3 2005. The 3.6GHz Xeon will drop from $850 to $691 and a new 3.8GHz Xeon with 800MHz FSB and 2MB L2 cache will be introduced at $850.

Price cuts on the recently announced Xeon MPs with a larger cache won't follow yet and it is also reported that the new E7230 Mukilteo chipset will be priced at $50.
