Cisco , Intel and a few other companies are sued about a few modem patents :
Cisco Systems Inc and Intel Corp were among four companies sued by inventor Robert Townshend, who claims their products infringe seven patents he holds for technology to speed Internet connections through phone lines.

The inventor's Townshend Intellectual Property LLC filed four separate lawsuits yesterday in a federal court in San Francisco against Cisco, Intel, Lucent Technologies' spinoff Agere Systems Inc, and Analog Devices Inc. The suits say the companies' products use technology that Mr Townshend developed to improve transmission rates of 56K or V.90 modems, which are installed in many PCs. He claims in court papers that the infringement was 'wilful and deliberate.'
