Cherry Silent MX silences its mechanical key switches

While mechanical gaming keyboards are pretty great, one of the disadvantages they have is that the mechanical switches are pretty noise. When you're in a quiet room, this can become kinda annoying to yourself and the people around you.

If you're looking for something better than a rubber-dome keyboard, without having to bear high noise levels, you may be interested in the new Cherry Silent MX keyswitches. Previously exclusively available on the Corsair Strafe RGB keyboard, these switches are now sold by Cherry to other keyboard makers.

The new Silent MX switches are available in Black and Red versions, with either a black housing or a clear switch housing for keyboards with LEDs. They promise the same feel as the regular units but with a lot less noise.
  • Black switch: Without pressure point, linear actuation - switching function with a defined force of approx. 60 cN without contact feedback
  • Red switch: Without pressure point, linear light actuation - switching function with a defined force of approx. 45 cN without contact feedback
  • Noise-optimised MX keyswitch version with the worldwide unique Gold Crosspoint contact technology.
  • The only solution from a single source: patented (patent pending) noise reduction with integrated 2-component stem.
  • Reliable reduction of bottom-out and top out noise
  • Noise reduction takes place in the glass-fibre reinforced base, regardless of 3rd party solutions on the keyswitch.
  • Precision "Made in Germany" with a short bounce time of < 5 ms
  • Self-cleaning contacts, resistant to dust and dirt
  • Over 50 million strokes per keyswitch without compromising on quality.
  • Long-lasting safe switching performance in the renowned "Original CHERRY quality" tried-and-tested a billion times over.
  • MX Silent
