Intel graphics tech based on Power VR architecture

Posted on Friday, July 28 2006 @ 12:25:56 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

The Inquirer writes Intel's upcoming graphics chips will be based on the on/off Power VR architecture.
Intel licensed Imaginations Technologies' SGX programmable Shader core architecture and is using it in its G965. These boards and the graphics capability inside are expected to arrive shortly and they will be Vista premium ready.

Intel prevailed in its fight to achieve Vista premium compatibility and is able to finally wave goodbye to ATI’s entry-level chipset. Intel simply doesn’t need it any more.

So some next-generation Intel graphics - possibly even the discrete graphic will certainly be Imagination Technologies' Power VR based.
Intel's first Power VR offerings are expected by mid-2007 or even earlier.
