Soon AMD will launch the entry-level dual-core Athlon 64 X2 3600+ for $148.
Share the same core of Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (1.8GHz/512KB L2 x2), Winsor, it has the same clock speed but its cache is reduced from 512KB X 2 to 256KB X 2. The price is $148. Compared with Athlon 64 X2 3800+, which has the price of $159, it’s only 6.84% cheaper.

AMD would focus on the mainstream Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2 products in the second half of the year. Athlon 64 is raised its production from 4.63 million to 7.2 million in Q3. Athlon 64 X2 however is ever more, from 1 million in Q2 to 3.16 million in Q3. The market expects Athlon 64 X2 3600+ would hold a certain amount of share.
