This week Samsung presented a 17-inch ultrathin AMOLED Display. The display is only 12mm thick and features a 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution.

The display has a response time of 0.01ms, a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 420cd/m² brightness rating. The only major drawback at the moment is the limited color support, 262k colors is a lot less than LCD display which support millions of colors. Another small issue is the 4:3 aspect ratio as widescreen displays are gaining popularity these days.

Here's a look at the specs:
  • Screen size: 345.6 x 259.2mm
  • Aspect ratio: 4:3
  • Viewing angle: >170 degrees
  • Resolution: 1600 x 1200 (UXGA)
  • Pixel pitch: 216um
  • Response time: 0.01ms
  • Colors: 262,144
  • Brightness: 400cd/m2
  • Contrast ratio: 1000:1
