A startup called PC MicroWorks unveiled world's first laptop with two GeForce Go 7950 GTX GPUs in SLI mode as well as a Blu-ray burner optical drive.
“Though it may be a little late to make it under the Christmas tree for some shoppers, this impressive new laptop may be worth the wait for others,” stated Timothy Lee, media relations director of MicroWorks.
When configured to the maximum, the PC MicroWorks Vega X laptop features AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 processor (2.0GHz, 1MB L2 cache [512KB per core] 35W thermal design power), two Nvidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics chips in SLI mode, 4GB PC2-5300 (667MHz) memory, 600GB hard disk drive, Blu-ray disc burner, 20.1” WSXGA+ (1680x1050) screen, 7.1 audio, TV-tuner, EV-DO connectivity and Windows XP Professional operating system with Windows Vista upgrade coupon. The company does not state battery time or weight of such computer.
Price of the PC MicroWorks Vega X? A staggering $7,026. Nice way to get some press attention but I bet they won't sell many of these ultra-high priced Vega X units.
