    Fujitsu-Siemens Prescott Compatible Motherboard

Posted on Thursday, July 24 2003 @ 16:45:28 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) announced two Prescott compatible motherboards based on the Intel Canterwood chipset. Not really that much information was present in the german article but here are a few 'specifications' about it:

  • The D1688 : ATX format, six PCI slots, AGP 8x.
  • The D1683 : Mini ATX format, three PCI slots, AGP 8x.

  • But most interesting about the motherboards is that FSC claims that they are Prescott compatible because they are designed with the FMB1.5 VRM specifications in mind. About most Springdale/Canterwood motherboards at the moment it is unknown if they will be able to handle Intels next generation of CPUs.

Both motherboards feature a technology from FSC to reduce the noise generated by your PC. The D1688 will be avaible for 190EUR and the Mini ATX D1683 for 180EUR.
