Windows XP vs Vista - 32.4% performance drop for UT2004!

Posted on Wednesday, January 31 2007 @ 20:26:16 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

It looks like Windows Vista isn't ready yet for gamers. Tom's Hardware Guide ran some benchmarks to compare the old XP to the new Windows Vista and found out that there's a 32.4% drop.

The FPS dropped from 255 to 173 when running in 1280 x 1024. In other games the performance drop was considerably smaller.

You can check it out at THG. They also tested Vista in their video, audio, applications and synthetic benchmarks.

Power consumption was also tested, this showed an increase of 0.6% over Windows XP.
