It looks like Asus's designers like leather. At CeBIT 2007 the company will introduce a new barebone PC with leather and they will also show off the Asus Z801 phone which also features leather:

ASUS has designed the Z801 to satisfy the growing demand from consumers for mobile phones that provide more than mere functionality. Sleek, clean lines dominate its façade, while recessed buttons on the side of the phone and a checker-board styled keypad create a modern and crisp feel.

Exquisite materials in the form of genuine leather for the front of the phone – which has natural wrinkles and patterns; create an individual characteristic much akin to the unique fingerprints of each individual user. Complementing this is the sub display screen that is artfully made of high-quality sapphire crystal – further emphasizing the overall stylish design. With its sophisticated and modern outlook, this stylish clamshell phone creates a unique identity like no other.
