Sony has a new cheaper Blu-ray disc player, the BDP-S300 which goes for sale for $599. According to Sony the new player will have the same features as the $999 BDP-S1 which is currently selling. In fact, it has even more features as the new BDP-S300 will be able to play CDs too.
The new BDP-S300 model is also smaller than the BDP-S1, it's about the same size as a regular DVD player.
