HardSpell prepared a test of S.TA.L.K.E.R., first they talk a bit about the history of this game which has been under development for seven years, they offer some background info on the Chernobyl incident, take a closer look at the game and perform some tests to see how well it runs on current hardware with ultra graphics quality.

Here's a snip:
When opened the ultra graphic quality the terrible equipment demands made us surprised, so we began from 800x600 definition. The scores we got were well-balanced.

For fluency, the mainstream-top segment behaved well and the mainstream segment 7600 series and X1650 series behaved not bad, but the entry class ones have behaved not well enough. What beyond our expected was X1300XT behaved as well as X1650GT by right of high core frequency. So we can see the game is depend on original frequency much and the optimization to shader is obvious lack.
