    Three Athlon 64 chipsets compared

Posted on Friday, September 26 2003 @ 18:58:00 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

AMDZone has compared three different Athlon 64 chipsets ; The ALi M1867, Nvidia nForce 3, and VIA K8T800.
We expect to see many more boards from all major motherboard manufacturers in October. Now turning to actual chipset pricing we can't say what each of these chipsets costs as these figures have not been released. It would seem that VIA will be able to charge the most for their combo as they have the most features, however Nvidia does have somewhat of an advantage with a single chipset solution. ALi will likely be forced to the low end as despite the good performance they don't share the features of the VIA or the reputation of Nvidia with enthusiasts.
