NVIDIA C73 to have native 3-way SLI support?

Posted on Saturday, September 29 2007 @ 01:26:43 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

VR Zone writes the NVIDIA C73 chipset features native 3-way SLI support:
According to our sources, NF200 is actually a PCI Express switch chip which can transfer 1 X16 to 2 X16 or even 4 X8. Nvidia will pair up this chip with C72XE and MCP72XE to support 3-way SLI. However, C73 XE will have native support for 3-way SLI without the need for NF200 chip. C73 XE will come later in Q1 2008 which adds support for FSB1600 and DDR3-1600. However, we should note that nForce 680i already has the capability to support 3-way SLI in 16/16/8 PCIe gen1 but nForce 780i is further enhanced with 16/16/16 where 2 slots are PCIe gen2 and the last slot is PCIe gen1 since MCP55 is still gen1.
