    Hellgate London: DX9 vs DX10

Posted on Wednesday, November 28 2007 @ 06:00:47 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

HardOCP has analyzed another game to check the performance and image quality difference between the DirectX 9 and 10 modes. This time they took a closer look at Hellgate London:
For this evaluation, we are going to focus on the highest playable settings we achieved with 4 different video cards. From NVIDIA, we are testing with the GeForce 8800 GTX and the new GeForce 8800 GT. From ATI, we are using the new Radeon HD 3870 and Radeon HD 3850 video cards. We are going to show our highest playable settings on all four video cards in both DirectX 10 mode and DirectX 9 mode. We will then show you exactly what IQ improvements you can expect to get from Hellgate London in DX10, compared with DX9.
Check it out over here. HardOCP concludes the performance drops by at least 45% in DX10 but that it's worth it because in this game the DX10 effects definitely improve the gaming experience. There's a noticeable improvement in image quality and realism when you turn on DX10 in Hellgate London.
