ATi lowers price of Radeon 9600SE chipset

Posted on Tuesday, February 03 2004 @ 20:49:21 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

ATi recently lowered the price of its Radeon 9600SE chip by about 30%, a reduction of $10, from over $40 earlier).
ATI evidently hopes to secure the market before Nvidia launches its GeForce 5700LE chip in March. The GeForce 5700LE chip is set to replace the 5600XT, which has enjoyed strong sales by offering a more competitive price than ATI’s 9600SE, sources commented. The price slash may prompt graphics card makers to lower their retail prices for cards based on the chip.
