LG debuts USB key with antivirus software

Posted on Friday, December 28 2007 @ 07:05:41 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

LG unveiled a new Vaccine USB memory stick, this product features build-in antivirus and malware protection software.
LG’s Vaccine USB protects any PC or laptop from the moment it is inserted with its ‘plug and auto run’ function. Once connected, the USB automatically monitors incoming traffic for viruses and malware with real-time system monitoring. In addition, users can carry out in-depth hardware scans whenever necessary to verify the presence of infection and perform repairs to cure or delete defected files.

The anti-virus and malware firmware is regularly updated through automatic downloads from the Internet to ensure the USB provides maximum protection at all times.

The USB’s anti-virus software comes with a free two-year licence, providing protection to any computer during that time period that is used with the USB. After two years, users can purchase an additional licence at a lower than market cost.
The Vaccine USB stick is available in capacities from 512MB to 8GB but it's rather slow. It has a max read speed of only 7MB/s and a write speed of 5MB/s.
