    BenQ DSC X800 digicam - 9.8mm thin

Posted on Sunday, January 20 2008 @ 08:25:34 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

BenQ recently released its 8 megapixel DSC X800 digital camera which has a thickness of only 9.8mm. This camera has 3x optical zoom, MP3 support and a 3" LCD display.
The super slim BenQ X800 features a bright 3” LTPS LCD and a prism-type lens which is housed entirely in the camera body, making the thinnest design possible. When zooming in on an image, all of the lens’ movement takes place inside the camera. In particular, the BenQ DSC X800 can capture close objects with its 1cm micro shooting function. It also features a steel breast plate that is matted and cozy to hold and a glossy black/red steel cover in hair-line finishing for an added touch of elegance.

The BenQ DSC X800 is an ideal portable media player in offering audio and video multimedia player functionality that is built into the camera. Consumers can watch favorite MPEG-4 videos or listen to their favorite tunes with the accompanying ear-phones which also offer high quality audio. When recording videos, the BenQ DSC X800, with its built-in MPEG-4 format, records 30 frames per second at 640 x 480 VGA resolution for a smooth video/audio stream. Furthermore, the BenQ DSC X800 is designed to work perfectly even in darkly-lit environments with support of a high sensitivity up to ISO 4000 so that pictures are captured in their natural lighting and without flash bulbs.

To ensure high quality pictures, the BenQ DSC X800 is equipped with a unique S.S.F. (Super Shake Free) shooting mode. If consumers are bumped or jostled while taking a picture, the S.S.F. mode will help to compensate for this and eliminate unwanted blurs. The BenQ DSC X800 also features an Auto Face Tracking Function that can auto-focus on up to nine faces.

Equipped with Z-Lighting and Wize Zoom, the BenQ DSC X800 ensures high-quality pictures whether in the dark or at a distance. With patented Z-lighting, users can adjust the lighting and the balance of their photo in playback mode. Wise Zoom provides consumers with a 30x zoom effect in VGA size when focusing in on a certain area at a distance. The BenQ DSC X800 also supports both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios, allowing consumers to share their pictures on a variety of different devices. With a variety of built-in shooting modes, the BenQ DSC X800 allows consumers to capture memories quickly and easily.
The X800 will be available in the first quarter of this year.
