NVIDIA NV40 and NV40 Ultra information

Posted on Saturday, March 06 2004 @ 21:57:15 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

NVIDIA will launch two NV40s , a normal one and an Ultra version with a higher clocked core and higher clocked memory. The NV40 Ultra is expected to be released at a cost of about €/$499. The memory of the Ultra version will probably be clocked at 600MHz and it will be using GDDR3 memory.
The NV40 non ultra, amateur version is going to be clocked lower but we don’t have any details how slower yet. The price will be around €/$299. Both boards will use similar memory configurations but we suspect that Nvidia might offer a 128 bit version of the card.

Nvidia will use similar PCBs (printed circuit boards) for desktop and workstation cards as before.

Production of NV40/NV40 Ultra is scheduled for April.
