Nintendo adds Sega Master System to Wii

Posted on Wednesday, January 30 2008 @ 02:16:10 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Nintendo announced it's expanding the Virtual Console catalogue on the Wii console with games from the Sega Master System.
Japanese consumers will soon be able to choose titles that graced Sega's late 80's home console, with the first two titles confirmed as Fist of the North Star and Fantasy Zone.

Also joining the Master System portfolio will be titles from Sega's Game Gear handheld and the Sega Mark III, a console only released in Japan.

The Virtual Console is one of the Wii's Shop Channels, offering retro games from NES, SNES, Sega Megadrive, TurboGrafx, NEO Geo and MSX consoles.
Two months ago Nintendo unveiled the Virtual Console download service generated $33 million in sales, with over 7.8 million games downloaded.
