AMD to build $100 million test and packaging plant in Suzhou, China

Posted on Thursday, April 15 2004 @ 20:11:20 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

AMD announced that they are going to spend $100 million on a new testing and packaging plant in China.

The new plant in China's eastern city of Suzhou would test, mark and package processors AMD said.

Chips prepared at this new facility will be sent to computer makers in China and abroad. AMD already has a similar facility in Suzhou that packages flash memory chips.

"We've identified China as an important strategic region for us," said AMD's spokesman for China, Tim Martin
