    3K working on $399 laptop

Posted on Monday, April 28 2008 @ 04:31:49 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

TC Mag reports PC maker 3K is one of the many firms working on a cheap notebook. The firm's low-cost notebook's name Longitude 400 reminds us a bit of the Latitude series from Dell but this notebook will be available for $399.

The 3K Longitude 400 will have a 7" LCD display and will weigh less than 2 ponds.
For that price you'll get a machine equipped with a 7-inch screen with a 800x480 resolution just like that on the Eee PC 701 models, an Ingenic 400 MHz-clocked single-core CPU, 512MB of DDR2 RAM and 4GB of flashy storage. Said to have a boot time of 15 seconds, the Longitude 400 is pre-loaded with a Linux OS and also features built-in WiFi 802.11 b/g, 10/100Mb Ethernet and 3 USB 2.0 ports.
