XGI to start shipping own-branded graphics cards in 2H 2004

Posted on Tuesday, June 08 2004 @ 23:10:18 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

It is said that in the second half of this year XGI is going to ship its own-branded graphics cards. But in order to avoid conflicts with existing clients that make graphics cards based on XGI their graphics chips, XGI is going to target other markets and sell their graphics cards trough channel distributors.
On the chipset side, aggressive marketing efforts have helped XGI add a number of Taiwanese graphics card makers, including Abit Computer, Chaintech Computer and Triplex, as its clients, said the sources.

XGI has also made significant inroads into the China graphics chipset market, with China-based graphics card makers Hasee Science & Technology and Lian Guan (Crown Electronic Technology) marketing graphics cards using XGI GPUs, the sources said.
